CEC has the expertise to design and oversee construction for all types of potable water treatment projects from complete water treatment plants to various rehabilitation and maintenance projects for municipal clients. Projects include water treatment plants, solids handling facilities, flow metering stations and sludge removal systems.
CEC has designed ten water reclamation facilities throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area over the past 25-years from concept through construction completion and operation ranging in size from 0.10 MGD to 8.0 MGD for both municipal and private clients. Facilities include sequencing batch reactors (SBRS), oxidation ditches (Orbal) among others.
In the conceptual stage of a project, CEC will work with the client to determine the location and size of the facility to prepare a Design Development Report (DDR), Environmental Information Document (EID), Wasteload Allocation (WLA) request, Anti-Degradation Study and all other reports and studies necessary to plan, permit and construct a water reclamation facility. Treatment options, equipment selection are all steps CEC takes to provide our client with a cost effective treatment facility.
CEC has designed scores of potable water and wastewater collection lift stations for several municipalities and private development throughout the Atlanta area. CEC will work with the client to determine sizing requirements that could include current and future conditions for purposes of phasing or other considerations. Complete services include concept, design and permitting through bidding, submittal review and construction management.
From concept through construction completion and operation, CEC has the capability to provide the complete design services for water supply projects up to 100 MGD. CEC works with agencies including the Army Corps. of Engineers, Georgia Environmental Division and the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District to be compliant with all regulatory requirements. Other projects include elevated storage tanks, both new and maintenance, as well as water main design services up to 48-inch diameter pipe.
CEC has the capability and experience to provide both Water and Sewer Master Planning for small to medium sized municipalities for collection, treatment and distribution. For Water Master Planning, CEC models the community system using population projections and peak flow conditions to stress the system and identify system deficiencies. CEC uses WaterCAD software for all modeling efforts.
For Sewer Master Planning, CEC analyzes existing and future land uses and applies unit flows for each land use to determine projected flows for the drainage basin. Pump station and collection system requirements are provided on the Master Plan map to provide a quick reference for both system owner and proposed developers to identify the system improvements required to provide sewer within the Service Area. With this Master Plan document approved by the system owner, piece meal development of the sewerage infrastructure is more easily avoided.
CEC has tested and modeled over 1,000 fire hydrants for both municipal clients and private developers throughout Georgia. CEC develops hydraulic computer models using Bentley's WaterCAD software to simulate existing and proposed water system characteristics including available fire flow. CEC also provides clients with assistance in the conceptual phase of proposed development in order to minimize water main pipe sizes and maximize available fire flow. Existing water systems with marginal available fire flows or properties with significant elevation changes can create challenges when it comes to meeting fire flow requirements.
